We are constantly looking for ways to beat the blessed heat here. It's alright when we are in the comfort of home, but it's another story altogether if you have to be out between 7.30 am and 4.30 pm. My heart goes out to the folks who have to commute long distances, have to work outdoors or even step out to do chores. But sadly, none of this can be avoided and hence the need to quench the ubiquitous thirst. and hence the need to quench it using never-tried-before ways. and hence, hearts were set aflutter when i chanced upon this. Here's to hoping we have early rains this year!
1 cup water
1 cup fresh lemon juice
1/4 cup honey
2 tablespoons sugar
2 cups water
1.5 tablespoons culinary lavender
Bring the two cups of water and sugar to a boil in a saucepan and remove from heat. Add the honey and the lavender and let it steep for 20 minutes.
Strain out the lavender and extract the last bit of lavendery goodness out of the mix.
In a pitcher, combine the lemon juice and the lavender syrup. Add chilled water if need be. Leave in the refrigerator to chill and then pour out, top with ice and bask in the freshness!
